Shalom, Solomon

“Shalom, Solomon” ,

The wind whispered

As Solomon slept

In the peaceful slumber

Of the innocent child.

His breathing echoed

In sibilant syllables

As the breeze entered

Through cracks

In doors and windows

And through holes in rafters,

Gently hissing and wheezing

The nursery words,

“Solomon is asleep”.
